Cervical Smears

Cervical Smears Testing

We recommend all female patients between the ages of 25 and 49 to have a smear every three years (for women between the ages of 50 and 64 the recommended recall is five years). We operate a recall system, which will send you a reminder. If you would like a smear, please make an appointment with the Practice Nurses. You may, if you wish, opt out of the recall but we will still need to invite you every 5 years.

Children's Immunisations

Childhood immunisations commence at 8 weeks old and these are administered by our Practice Nursing Team.  Appointments are made directly with the practice; usually the first being booked when you ring to make your post-natal 6 week check.

Abingdon Community Hospital

We are fortunate at Abingdon in having our own in-patient GP hospital with beds for care of the elderly, acute illness and convalescent patients. There are Consultant Clinics in most specialities and an X-Ray, Physiotherapy and Day Care facility. There is also a Minor Injuries Unit open from 10.00 am to 10.30 pm 7 days a week. There are no Casualty or Maternity facilities at the Community Hospital.

Please always inform the Receptionist that you need an antenatal appointment as you need to be seen by the Nurse first followed by the doctor 15 minutes later. Our Midwives, Sian Hillier-Kerr and Gina Gathern, also see antenatal patients by appointment.
