  • Think twice before making an appointment: Do you really need a Doctor?
  • You may not always need to speak to a Doctor; ask what services the Nurse and Clinical Pharmacist can provide.
  • Have you tried simple home treatments?
  • Do you need a referral? If so, can you refer yourself? Check out the self-referral services listed on this website.
  • If you book an appointment, keep it or cancel it.
  • Take a friend or relative with you if necessary.
  • Tell the Receptionist at the time of booking your appointment if you need more time to speak to the Doctor, she may be able to arrange this.
  • Find out how your Practice deals with complaints.
  • Know how to contact the out of hours service – Dial 111.
  • Register with the NHS App.

  • Advise you if you are unsure about seeing a Doctor
  • Offer advice about a problem if you are not sure what is causing it
  • Give you advice about staying healthy.
