Oxfordshire services:

  • Oxfordshire’s weight loss and health living service run by Maximus UK – free Beezee programmes that have in-person, online and learn at your own pace sessions. There are men-only sessions, youth sessions, antenatal sessions and child/whole family sessions aimed at young families and school age families. Referrals to Slimming World are also possible (eligibility criteria apply).
  • Active Oxfordshire runs Move Together and YouMove services. There is also a section on the website called Get Active which is aimed at everyone. It includes plenty of ideas for finding the best local places to go and enjoy walking, jogging, wheeling and cycling.
    • Move Together provides support, advice and guidance to people living with long-term health conditions, helping them to move more and improve their physical and mental health and well-being.
    • YouMove offers free and low-cost activities for children (0-17) and their families (eligibility criteria apply).

When to book an appointment with your GP:

If you are concerned about the weight of your child or someone you care for.

If you are an adult with a BMI over 27.5 or 30 (depending on your ethnic group), pre-diabetes, diabetes or hypertension and would like to discuss a referral for more specialised weight loss services.

If you have lost weight suddenly or without changing your diet or exercise routine.

If you use the control of food to cope with feelings and other situations.
